Hibiscus - THE tropical element in your garden

Do you miss something in your garden or terrace? Something really bright, very peaceful , having the power to complete your desired place. A tropical flower giving a feeling of comfort, warmth, and relaxation. But it is really important for you and your flower to know how to take care of it. I would try to give you some tips which I've learnt while growing this plant by myself. Hibiscus is from the Malvaceae family, a genus of flowering plants, containing a several hundred species, native to warm-temperature and the tropical regions of the world. It is also known as a rose mallow or a Chinese rose.
Growing it in a container, is a very good option, because it is letting you choose the best location of it, depending on which season is. Make sure you had made a good drainage, and when moving in another pot, be gentle and choose a little bit bigger tray than the older one. Temperature conditions for a hibiscus is between 16 - 32 degrees. You can move it outside in the summer, but obligatory move it in, when it starts getting colder. Be careful with watering, especially in their blooming period; They require and love a lot of water, that means a daily watering.
This is for the summer and the very hot days, too much water can kill it in the cold season. So , in the winter, check the soil and water only when it is dry. If you want your plant to bloom regularly , you will have to use nutrients. It is good and a good choice to treat once per week with diluted liquid fertilizer,a high potassium fertilizer. No need to do it in the winter. The leaves of the plant are ovate, alternate , often with a toothed margin. It can grow up to 15 feet tall in frost-free areas. The flowers are large, trumpet-shaped, colors from white to pink, red, orange, purple, yellow. There are two certain species - Hibiscus mutabilis and Hibiscus tillaceus , that have the availability to change their colors during the years. They are often used to attract bees and butterflies and humingbirds, in landscape shrubs. It is one of their special features. Another curious fact is that Hibiscus Cannabinus is used in the paper making industry. Hibiscus Syriacus is the national flower of South Korea, Hibiscus rosa- sinensis of Malaysia.  I guarantee you won't get enough of this endless beauty ;)
